SANDCASTLES
A Two Act play for six (or seven) characters     (90 minutes)

A black comedy set at the seaside, the play explores the relationships within a family as they enjoy life on a beach holiday.   Bert's  constant riling of his long suffering wife, Lily, and his daughter, Susan, comes to a head after revelations from a fortune teller.      Bert has a disturbing dream which exposes secrets from the past.     Susan reveals her true self as she flirts with a candy floss seller and Punch and Judy man from
the pier.

The play is set in front of a beach hut,  with two deck chairs. A pile of damp sand is required for building a sand castle during the performance. The play could tour easily with a small collapsible hut. The play was originally set in the late  1950's, with northern accents, but can be adapted to suit. Five of  the characters play  doubled parts in the dream sequence.
